Abstract

This article, using a qualitative method based on collecting information from library sources, has tried to answer the main question that basically, what role can non-governmental organizations in the field of energy play in the sustainable development of the Middle East? The findings of the research indicate that non-governmental organizations in the field of energy have the possibility of applying and playing three roles (executive role, facilitating and seeking participation) in the realization of sustainable development in the Middle East countries. Although there is this ability in non-governmental organizations to play two or all three roles at the same time and reflect a combination of them in their activities, nevertheless, among the aforementioned roles, non-governmental organizations in the field of energy are the most It has an executive role and on this basis, mainly in the Middle East countries, they implement projects in the field of oil, gas and renewable energy. On the basis of playing an obvious role in this regard, non-governmental organizations participate in developing comprehensive and long-term plans regarding the replacement of renewable energies with fossil fuels in some countries of the Middle East; But in playing the role of hidden participation, these organizations have been unable and have not had much influence until now, in the context of playing such a role, with the increase of people's participation in the form of non-governmental organizations, the level of social participation of people has increased, and as a result, they have played a greater role in the field. Let's witness the power from them and in line with that reduce the monopoly power and domination of the statesmen and as a result the democratization of the political-social atmosphere of the societies in the Middle East..
