Studying the application of Persian proverbs in Nahj al-Balagheh

Abstract

Undoubtedly, proverbs are one of the well-known types of literature; And it is the most practical and at the same time the most popular of them, which has caused commonalities among the languages of different peoples and nations. Proverbs and sayings play an important role in the correct transmission of the speaker's thoughts and ideas to the audience, among which the brevity of the words, the conveyance of the meaning, the beauty and originality of the words can be considered as prominent features. Meanwhile, the position of Nahj al-Balagheh and Alawite proverbs in Persian literature is a clear and undeniable fact, the proof of this expression is the poetry of poets who have been influenced by the words of Imam Ali (a.s.) from the distant past, sometimes directly and sometimes visually. The content and meaning are inspired by the proverbs and rulings of Nahj al-Balagha. Nahj al-Balagheh can be seen as the result of intellectual capital and taste of Imam Ali (a.s.), which, as an authentic religious document, illuminates the path of guidance and happiness for mankind. This research aims to compare Alavi proverbs and rulings of Nahj al-Balagheh and compare these proverbs with proverbs in verse and prose of the Persian language.
