Abstract

Personality is an abstract phenomenon and cannot be observed objectively. Character is a perception of society that the author's point of view and the creator of the character gives it individuality. One of the applications of characterization is in short films, cinema, and animation. The creation of a character in animation starts from the ideation stage, and with the elaboration and deepening of the character in the next stages, it has evolved and finally, the character is born. A good characterization is when the character created is believable, sympathetic, and memorable. The design of the character's appearance is done based on his characterization and can complement his characterization and the objective expression of his character. In the formation of personalities, especially the conflicts of the personality with the surrounding people and the society, "schemas" play an essential role. Schemas are unconscious and incompatible beliefs of a person's subconscious mind about him, his surroundings, and the world he interacts with, and they are so obvious and real to a person that he thinks they are pure reality. One of the important theories in this regard is Jeffrey Young's schemas, which are related to five categories of basic needs: 1-secure attachments to others 2-autonomy, competence and sense of identity 3-freedom to express valid needs and emotions 4-spontaneity and play and 5-realistic limits and self-control. Logical, need for fun and spontaneity. Young's maladaptive self-schemas are also categorized into five areas: 1-Disconnection and rejection 2-Impaired autonomy and performance 3-Impaired limits 4-Other-directedness and 5-Overvigilance and inhibition. This research, which is carried out in a descriptive-analytical way, using library sources, observation, and analysis, aims to investigate the early maladaptive schemas that appear randomly and scattered in the characterization of animation characters. be placed so that they can be used consciously and practically and operationally to create a character so that his interactions with other characters and conflicts between them benefit from a psychological theory and appear logical and believable.
