Abstract

The mining industry needs to discover more resources in the earth's crust to meet the demand for metals and/or raw materials. On the other hand, the rate of discovery of new ore deposits, especially from greenfield exploration, has been decreasing in recent years under more challenging conditions and circumstances for mineral exploration. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the status of mineral exploration in Iran and the world. In this study, a computer search was conducted in the databases of PsychINFO, Social Sciences Index, Science, MEDLINE, Scopus, Direct, Proquest, and PubMed with the keywords "mineral exploration", "mineral exploration in Iran", "mineral exploration in the world". In most mining countries in the world, the responsibility for conducting preliminary studies, regional exploration, and establishing hardware and software infrastructure lies with the government and the government, so that almost all the budget and credit required is provided by the government. In Iran, in order to make a leap and transform the mining industry as one of the influential sectors in the country's non-oil economy and achieve global standards, there is a need for global thinking and spending resources at these levels.
