Evaluating the obstacles and challenges of using blockchain technology in information management and libraries

Abstract

Using new technologies is a solution that many organizations are looking for. Libraries are one of the basic institutions in the field of information and data management. In this research, the obstacles and challenges of using blockchain technology in the field of librarianship and information management have been evaluated. The statistical population of this research is all specialists and experts familiar with blockchain technology. But due to the impossibility of identifying and studying all the people in the society, as well as the lack of access to all of them, sampling was done using a purposeful judgment method. Based on this, 12 academic and executive experts were selected as experts. In this research, document study was used in the study of the theoretical foundations and background of the research. In this way, by referring to scientific sources including books, articles and theses; The latest materials and concepts related to the subject were reviewed. A survey method was also used in the evaluation stage of obstacles and challenges. At this stage, a researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect the opinions of experts. The data were analyzed using the fuzzy Dimetal technique. In this step, Excel software was used. At the end, discussion and conclusions were presented. According to the results of the research, among the seven factors of the main technical and technological component, three sub-components of not having the necessary safety against cyber attacks, the problem of storing information and the lack of standardization in various blockchain systems were ranked first to third, which shows the importance of the technical factor.
