Abstract

In Islamic thought, the family is considered the first and most important educational institution, playing a fundamental role in shaping the beliefs, values, and religious identity of children. Many human attitudes and behavioral patterns are formed within the family environment; therefore, this institution holds a central position in transmitting and institutionalizing religious and social values. Among Islamic teachings, the culture of resistance and the divine discourse of jihad and martyrdom are among the fundamental concepts that play an important role in strengthening the spirit of sacrifice, responsibility, resistance against oppression, and defense of divine values. Within such a framework, the family, as the primary environment of upbringing, can provide the foundation for nurturing a conscious, committed, and resilient generation capable of confronting cultural and social challenges. The present study aims to examine and explain the educational role of the family in promoting the culture of resistance and the divine discourse of jihad and martyrdom. The main research question is how the family, through its educational mechanisms, can contribute to the institutionalization of the culture of resistance and the strengthening of the spirit of jihad and martyrdom among children. The research method adopted in this article is descriptive–analytical and is based on the study of library sources and religious texts. The study attempts to analyze the educational dimensions and functions of the family in transmitting the values of resistance by examining Islamic teachings and educational perspectives related to family life. The findings indicate that children’s imitation of the beliefs and behaviors of their parents, the teaching and explanation of religious values within the family environment, the creation of emotional and spiritual cohesion among family members, and introducing children to the life and example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Ahl al‑Bayt (AS), and models of sacrifice and devotion are among the most important factors in institutionalizing the culture of resistance and strengthening the spirit of jihad and martyrdom in the new generation.
