Abstract

Vitamin D plays an important role in supporting bone health and immune function. According the results of the studies, vitamin D deficiency is very prevalent among common people and athletes in different countries. Moreover, vitamin D deficiency is the cause of bone and other disorders. the results of the study show that the level of serum 25(OH)D is depends on seasonal variation. The study population included 63 female athletes (23to47years old), who were participated voluntarily, in the middle of autumn, winter and spring. Serum 25-hydroxy-vitamin D (25(OH)D) levels were measured by DS2DYnex, that is made in America, with method of Aliza. The value of 25(OH)D<  was considered as deficiency,  >  as insufficiency,  ≤25(OH)D>30  as sufficient levels. the levels of deficiency and insufficiency were 66.7% and 33.3% in autumn, 4.8% and 95.2% in winter, 20.6% and 76.2% in spring respectively.3.2%of people had adequate levels of vitamin D in spring. there was a significant difference between the serum 25(OH)D in autumn and winter, winter and spring. There was no significant difference between the serum 25(OH)D in autumn and spring. the highest level of vitamin D mean was in autumn and the lowest level was in winter. These findings indicate the necessity for research projects and actions to prevent vitamin D deficiency.
