Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds have widespread applications in medicinal chemistry due to their unique chemical and biological properties. This study aims to review recent advancements in the synthesis and medicinal applications of these compounds. A total of 600 articles were searched from reliable scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. After applying selection and exclusion criteria, 10 articles published between 2015 and 2025 were included in the final review. These articles consist of both experimental and review research on the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles and their biological evaluations. The results demonstrated that novel synthetic methods such as microwave-assisted synthesis and multicomponent reactions (MCRs) have a significant impact on improving the efficiency and reducing the synthesis time of these compounds. Additionally, nitrogen-containing heterocycles have shown effectiveness in treating various diseases, including cancer, viral infections, and bacterial diseases, with their therapeutic applications expanding. These findings emphasize the importance of these compounds in pharmaceuticals and the need for the development of new synthesis methods. Finally, based on the advances made, suggestions for future research in this area are provided.
