Abstract

The pharmaceutical industry, as one of the main pillars of the health system, plays an important role in improving the quality of life and treating diseases. However, the activities of this industry are associated with numerous environmental consequences, including pollution of water and soil resources, production of chemical and toxic waste, high energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions. The introduction of drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients into the environment can have devastating effects on ecosystems, wildlife, and even human health. This article aims to examine the environmental impacts of two companies in the pharmaceutical industry, analyzes the challenges in the field of pollution, waste, and consumption of natural resources, and then presents solutions such as the use of green technologies, principled waste management, the use of renewable energies, and optimization of production processes as effective solutions. The results of the studies show that by adopting a sustainable approach in line with environmental principles, we can prevent environmental degradation and move towards sustainable development, while simultaneously advancing science and industry.
