Investigating the sense of security in the urban neighborhoods of Tehran (case example: Sadeghieh neighborhood)

Abstract

Citizens' sense of security can be effective in improving the pattern of their social activities and create a better participation in the social scene. The lack of a sense of security in urban spaces limits full participation in the community, and in addition to psychological damage to the individual, it will affect families and ultimately the entire society. The purpose of the current research is to investigate the sense of security in Sadeghieh neighborhood of Tehran. The research method of the present study is descriptive-analytical and survey. And the questionnaire tool has been used to get citizens' opinions. The statistical population of the research consists of all residents of Sadeghieh neighborhoods, which were randomly selected using Cochran's formula of 378 samples. SPSS21 software was used for data analysis. The research results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the research variables (neighborhood identity, social monitoring and population density) and the sense of security in Sadeghieh neighborhood. And in the meantime, social monitoring has had more correlation with the feeling of security.
