Investigating the relationship between personality traits and primary maladaptive schema in runaway women and girls

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between personality traits and the initial maladaptive schema in runaway women and girls. The descriptive research method was correlation type. The statistical population of all women and girls who ran away from home between the ages of 15 and 20 years old and living in welfare crisis intervention centers in Tehran province, whose number was 190, and 124 of them were selected by available sampling. The research tools were Eysenck's Personality Traits Questionnaire (1960) and Young's Primary Maladaptive Schema (1995). Data was analyzed by Pearson correlation and regression. The results of the study showed that there is a significant relationship between personality traits and the initial maladaptive schema in runaway women and girls. Therefore, it can be concluded that personality traits are among the important and influential components on the primary maladaptive schema that should be paid more attention to.
